
Following production of this report, the Lord Provost's Charter for Change was produced. This document lists sustainability criteria which organisations can sign up to and agree to implement.

The Lord Provost's Commission on Sustainable Development
In 1997 the Lord Provost of Edinburgh commissioned a year long city wide debate on the issues and opportunities
for Sustainable Development in Edinburgh. The debate took the form of a Royal Commission and was hosted by a
panel of 15 Commissioners - individuals representing different sectors of the Edinburgh community. A report
was produced with 127 recommendations for actively moving towards a more sustainable city.

The EEP Millennium Awards
Between 1999-2001 the ESDP (formerly EEP), in partnership with the Millennium Commission ran the EEP Millennium Awards scheme. This provided grants to individuals within the city to carry out a project which would promote Sustainable Development in the City. Over 80 Awards were made.
